Nigerian prophet Bright the Seer has issued a prophetic prayer alert over communities in the Gongola River region, warning of possible attacks and unrest in Adamawa and Taraba states.
In a statement shared with followers, the prophet said the Spirit of God had directed attention to the areas surrounding the Gongola River, which formed part of the defunct Gongola State before it was split into Adamawa and Taraba states in 1991.
“The Spirit of God is showing me now: pray for areas around Gongola River, in former Gongola State, which are Adamawa and Taraba states and their environs, against invasion and attacks, and situations that will shake people,” Brighttheseer said.
Background on the Gongola River Region
The Gongola River flows through northeastern Nigeria and gave its name to the former Gongola State, created in 1976. Authorities dissolved the state in 1991, carving it into what are now Adamawa and Taraba states.
Communities along the river and across both states have faced security challenges in recent years, including incidents linked to armed groups operating in parts of the North East and North Central regions. Against that backdrop, the prophet’s alert calls for sustained intercession over the area.
Call for Intercession
According to the statement, the warning is not intended to spread fear but to mobilize prayer ahead of a potential crisis. Prophetic voices within Nigeria’s Christian community frequently issue similar alerts, urging believers to intercede for regions facing perceived threats.
